Breast Reduction

Breast reduction is a procedure to reduce the size of your breasts by removing excess fat and skin, then reshaping and uplifting your breasts.

Breast reduction could be a good option if you’d prefer to have smaller breasts for aesthetic reasons. Breast reduction can also be used to treat symptoms caused by large breasts such as back and neck pain and skin irritation.

FAQ

How does breast reduction work?

Breast reduction involves removing excess breast fat and tissue and reshaping your breast. There are different techniques and Mr El Gammal will discuss these with you to determine the best approach for your individual needs.

How long does it take and will I feel pain?

Breast reduction surgery can take anywhere between 90 minutes to three hours depending on the size of your breasts and the technique required. You’ll be under general anaesthetic for the procedure so you won’t feel any pain. When you wake up, you may have a drain fitted for excess fluid. You will be given pain killers and our team will talk you through your dressings. There may be some discomfort and bruising for a few days following your procedure, but you should be able to return to work and normal daily activities within  two weeks. You will be required to wear a supporting bra for few weeks.

How long do I need to stay in hospital for?

Most patients usually stay for one night, but the procedure can sometimes be done as a day-case if appropriate. Mr El Gammal will go through this with you during your consultations.

How much does it cost?

This will vary depending on which hospital you choose to have your surgery, but breast reduction usually costs around £6000. Mr El Gammal works closely with the hospital payment teams and will ensure you have all options made available to you including monthly payment options.
